Blue devil (或被稱做bluebird 、blue angel)在當代的用法中指藍色的膠囊,尤指含有阿米妥鈉的膠囼br />?.1781年,Fanny Burney用過blue devils,意思是沮喪的人: "Thinking ...that generous wine will destroy even the blue devils".在19世紀,blue devils也曾用來描述開懷暢飲后的情形: "They, by a continued series of intoxications, become subject to what is popularly called the Blue Devils." (Scott, Letters on demonology and witchcraft 斯哥特,《妖魔巫術(shù)信札》, 1830).
